This is the re-entrant where South America split away from Africa. The one place the restored fit is not almost perfect is the corner, where the northeast tip of Brazil substantially overlaps Africa. In Brazil, Precambrian rocks come right to the coast, but in Africa, the misfit is the Niger Delta, underlain by Cenozoic and Mesozoic rocks. The Precambrian rocks in Africa are inland far enough to accommodate the tip of Brazil nicely.
